High Risk Pregnancy Management

As any pregnancy can come with a challenge; high risk pregnancies may potentially hamper the health of both the mother and the fetus. High risk pregnancies need a much greater level of attention, precision and monitoring since they carry an upraised risk of complications, and can also increase the chances for health and other developmental problems at birth and beyond.

At Mother’s care & IVF Centre we streamline routine screening tests, such as blood tests or ultrasounds, diagnostic tests, amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS), which helps in identifying whether pregnancy is actually at high risk or not. These screenings are used to identify the presence of a number of health related problems as well as serves as a test for certain genetic conditions.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a scientific and medicinal procedure that can be used to both diagnose as well as treat the causes of abnormal bleeding. The procedure allows your fertility specialist to look inside your uterus with a tool called hysteroscope. At Mother’s Care & IVF Centre, operative hysteroscopy is used to correct single or multiple abnormal conditions that has been identified during a diagnostic hysteroscopy. If an abnormal condition is detected during the diagnostic hysteroscopy, we offer an operative hysteroscopy which can be performed at the same time that avoids the need for a second surgery.

Microsurgical Epididymis Sperm Aspiration (MESA)

Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration commonly known as MESA is a relatively much painless and minimally invasive procedure performed at Mother’s Care & IVF Centre under local anaesthesia. Only a very small incision needs to be made to access the epididymis. Using magnification, Dr. Archana Kanodia can see the tiny epididymis tubules and open to get the sperm contained within. Generally, enough sperm can be easily obtained to freeze for multiple cycles of IVF.

Testicular Biopsy Sperm Aspiration (TESA)

TESA (Testicular Biopsy Sperm Aspiration) can be used as an effective diagnostic procedure to detect azoospermia (a condition in which a man has no sperm in his seminal fluid), or as a medical procedure to recover the sperm from testicles of men with various obstructions or ejaculatory problems that cannot be treated by any other means or methods.

In the TESA procedure at Mother’s Care & IVF Centre, a very fine needle is passed into the testicles of men under anaesthetic, and an even tinier amount of material is removed from the network of tiny tubes where sperm are produce known as seminiferous tubules.

Donor Egg Program

At Mother’s Care & IVF Centre, women with egg quality issues can still have the option of enjoying and carrying a pregnancy with the help of an egg donor under our egg donor program. Those who have struggled with some miscarriages or are not the perfect candidates for IVF due to age can also pursue our donor egg program with the help of other lovely women who are willing to donate their eggs.
In a donor egg program scenario, a pre-verified fertile woman will supply her eggs that can be effectively fertilized in a laboratory with your partner’s sperm, using the effective techniques of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The resulting embryos will then be implanted by our experienced doctors into your uterus for you to carry the pregnancy.

Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)

Intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) is another variation of ICSI that uses a much higher-powered microscope to select the required sperm. This allows embryologists to look at the sperm in much greater detail (which includes the nucleus containing the sperm’s genetic material). The motile sperm organelle morphology examination at Mother’s Care & IVF Centre allows the detection of sperm vacuoles that seems and can to be related to sperm DNA damage

Laparoscopy In Infertility & Gynaecology

A laparoscopy is a type of surgery that inspects for problems in the abdomen or in a woman’s reproductive system with a very thin tube called a laparoscope. It is carefully inserted into the abdomen through a small incision. An incision is made through the skin during surgery with the camera attached to the tube. The camera sends images directly to a video monitor. This allows the surgeon to view the inside of the body without causing any major trauma to the patient.

Laparoscopy is also known as a minimally invasive surgery. It allows for generally shorter hospital stays, quick recovery, lesser pain, and smaller scars than any other traditional (open) surgery.

In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF)

In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF) is a common treatment for infertility performed at Mother’s Care & IVF Centre. First the ovaries are invigorated to develop multiple follicles; within which each one is an egg, by using “fertility drugs”. Monitoring of follicle number with ultrasound and growth along with hormone levels of blood determines when an injection matures the eggs. Then the fertility doctor at our centre takes the eggs from the ovaries using a very small needle, while the woman is under light anaesthesia and further fertilizes them with sperm in our specialized lab. After fertilization, the eggs are effectively cultured and developed into embryos. After three to five days, the specialist at Mother’s Care re-implants the embryos back into the uterus.

Ovulation Induction

Ovulation induction is the process in which medications are used to stimulate ovulation in women who have irregular or absent ovulation termed as anovulation medically.

Around 25% to 30% women dealing with infertility have problems with ovulation. The main objective of ovulation induction is to enhance a woman’s pregnancy chances, which can be either through sexual intercourse or by employing intrauterine insemination (IUI) or any another fertility treatment.

Ovulation induction is usually one of the first line treatments used for infertility because it is non-invasive and relatively low cost, compared to other fertility treatments. Women with PCOS, who have irregular ovulation greatly benefit from ovulation induction.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

IUI is the most common fertility treatment that involves positioning of the prepared sperm from the male partner directly into the uterus via a small plastic catheter at the time of egg release or ovulation.

Indications For IUI Include:

  • Low sperm count or quality
  • Sexual disorders in male such as premature ejaculation
  • Cervical disorders

Miscarriage

On the off chance that a woman had a premature delivery, it doesn’t mean she has a fertility issue. About 80% of women who have miscarriages have subsequently normal pregnancies and births. Most of the miscarriages occur within the first three months of the pregnancy. Most of the miscarriages which occur in the first trimester are generally caused by chromosomal abnormalities.

Miscarriages Can Also Be Caused By Other Factors Such As:

FAMILY PLANNING / TUBAL LIGATION

Permanent contraception is known as sterilisation. A tubal concentration is a procedure to clip a woman’s fallopian tubes. A tubal concentration is a procedure of closing both the fallopian tubes so that sperm can’t get to an egg to fertilise it.

HOW IS A TUBAL LIGATION DONE?

The tubes are effectively closed using either rings or clip.It is usually done by using a small telescope known as laparoscope through a small cut near the belly button and closing the tubes via another small cut near the pubic hair.
